Conservation of National fossil sites

The evolution and adaption of mammals to various environments since their diversification from the Paleocene on has been a fascination area since the beginning of my studies. Different aspects of these investigations are food preferences specially in carnivorous mammals, evolution of the middle and inner ear, morphological adaption of the locomotion system as well as migration routes.
Each of these topics needs specialised investigation techniques. Micro-wear analyses and high speed cameras give insight into feeding habits, computertomography allows a non invasive look into the secrets of hearing, and ancient DNA allows detailed reconstructions of centre of origin and migration routes
